Okay, so maybe I'm ready to launch this ship! I have bought a used bike, new tires, and a pump. Grammy gave me some padded shorts. I moved my pedals over from my old Cannondale MTB. I have created my first blog so I can share this experience with folks. What else could be left?
Ride. Ride many miles. Oh, I am in terrible shape. After only 24 miles on my bike, it is clear that I will really need to work up to a century ride. I think that one of the coolest aspects of this JDRF event is that the participants must earn the right to participate. And part of that involves getting into riding shape.
The other part involves raising some serious money. When I sign up for the Ride, I will be making a personal commitment to JDRF of $4,000. My entry fee easily covers my lodging and travel costs...the rest of it goes to JDRF and supports their efforts to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
As you may know, my younger son developed Type 1 Diabetes in late 2007. For me this ride is personal. I saw this disease start to destroy my son. Now we are treating his Diabetes. Still, he remains compromised and dependant on treatment because a cure is elusive.
This ride is about raising money for a cure. Please consider helping with your contribution. Support me as I ride in honor of Braeden.

Go Brother Go!! I think this is a great idea and a great cause...I know you'll do great! Besides, one should never bet against a Rogers in padded compression shorts :) Fantastic website - especially love the graphic at the top!
